Spacer Bending

Advantages of Spacer Bending

Spacer bending machines provide continuous corner bending, which reduces stress points and the possibility of failure in the corners of an IG. unit. Automated spacer bending has important production, quality and cost benefits over operations cutting and keying.

First, spacer bending reduces labor costs for fast payback. Any reduction in cost without a counter-reduction in quality is welcome, making spacer bending a viable option. Bending cuts corner key costs by about 75 percent. Spacer material use is also reduced by using connect mode with our spacer bending machine, contributing to additional cost savings. Spacer bending provides a more effective corner seal, which in turn causes fewer warranty problems.

Spacer bending increases productivity

In addition to purely cost savings, spacer bending also increases productivity (2,000 frames 24 X 36 in eight hours). It provides superior gas retention and fast production of complex shapes such as trapezoids and triangles without calculations. Production audits have found spacer bending reduces production errors, while the more rigid frames maintain their shape and are easier to handle. Additional productivity gains are achieved through upgrade options such as automatic drilling and downloading production files.

In addition to the base model bender Tools for Bending includes an optional secondary motor, automatic drill, and material rack. A desiccant filler is also available. This machine is not essential for basic spacer bending, but will assist in productivity and efficiency when filling frames after bending.

Tools for Bending has a detailed and helpful manual.

This manual includes information on calibration while spacer bending, as well as how to set up and program the spacer bender. In addition, the manual includes a troubleshooting guide should problems occur while spacer bending
